Talk, don't type

Less screen. More life.
A small pocket device for the things you'd otherwise lose: the note, the idea, the bins on Thursday. Type it, put it away, get on with your evening.
What Nod does
Need an answer? Hold a key and ask out loud. We are working to make it feel as simple as a conversation.
In progressGot an idea while making tea or heading out? Say it before it disappears. We are building a reliable place to find it later.
In progressA calm little place for reminders and what comes next. Planned, not built yet.
ConceptWhen your computer asks to do something important, Nod is designed to let you give a clear yes or no. Still being tested.
Still to verifyWhat makes a Nod
A snap-on front and back in orange, cream or mint, made for a home 3D printer. Not printed or fit-tested yet.
An off-the-shelf Cardputer ADV from M5Stack, with 56 keys, a 1.14-inch screen and a microphone. We don't make it, and it isn't made in Britain.
A typed-note feature is in the firmware. Device test pending.
Nothing is for sale yet: no prices, preorders or delivery dates.
How it works
Pick up Nod and hold a physical key. No complicated menus.
Ask a question or catch a thought. We are making these experiences easy to use.
A connected computer does the bigger work, while you remain in control of important decisions.
Design concepts
Three ways the hardware could evolve, all drawn around the real Cardputer ADV. None are prototyped, costed or scheduled.
A hinged screen that opens to reveal a full keyboard. Closed it fits in a pocket; open it becomes a mini laptop for longer sessions.
Design conceptA sliding keyboard mechanism. Push up to reveal the keys for typing; slide back for a compact screen-only view.
Design conceptA touchscreen module that snaps onto the back for visual tasks, plus modular add-ons. The core device stays the same; the shell adapts.
Design conceptHonest build status
There is no finished product, price or launch date yet. Here is where things stand.
Development uses a Cardputer ADV and a connected Windows PC. Some optional online services may cost extra. A person always approves anything important, such as starting a print.

The firmware, Nod Core and this website are all on GitHub. Read it, change it, make your own version. It is early days and mostly one maker so far, so a second pair of hands really counts.
